The President Elect is responsible for programs at the monthly membership meetings. Up to three (3) programs per year are to promote good business practices among consulting engineering firms. Programs are to be diverse in subject matter and should include local business and political leaders.

Education Program Regional Initiatives
Our Public Relations committee plans many activities such as networking events including our annual spring reception. This comittee also organizes our summer internship program where we coordinate a tour for our member’s interns to see a project in the DFW area. Our PR committee also works as our scholarship committee where we offer three scholarships opportunities to our summer interns and another three to graduating seniors in our DISD schools.

Promotes increased Chapter membership and attendance at meetings. Contacts prospective members. Assists in arranging receptions for local agency officials and key government staff members. Assists ACEC Texas in the review and processing of applications for membership. Coordinates activities with ACEC Texas for statewide events, if needed.

City of Dallas
Establishes and maintains a continuing dialogue with officials of city, county, state and other public agencies concerning their programs and policies affecting consulting engineers. Initiates appropriate action of Chapter (or state office) when a response is needed for activities or requests. Helps educate public entities regarding the Professional Services Procurement Act and encourages them to comply. Provides a focus for the review of design criteria and standards. Recommends revisions to design criteria standards and approved products. Disseminates relevant information to the Dallas Chapter membership.

Promotes good business practices among consulting engineering firms. Provides programs or continuing education on topics related to business practice. May also conduct business practices surveys when deemed beneficial. Communicates Dallas Chapter concerns regarding professional services contracts. Serves as a Chapter advocate on legal, contracting and insurance issues.
Bytes for Kids
Board Chair: John Lamb, Treasurer
The Dallas Independent School District selects 12-15 schools that are under-served and/or low income. There are four award recipients from each school, two high achievers in Math and two high achievers in Science. Criteria is one of two methods:
- For each six-week grade reporting period in which a student earns an A in Math and/or Science, his or her name is submitted for a drawing at which two iPads are given; or
- The teachers from each selected school identify the most-improved Science and Math students to receive an iPad
The Texas Engineering Research Forum (TERF) and ACEC Dallas partner together to put together this program. In order to pay for the iPads given the Texas Engineering Research Forum puts on an Annual Golf Tournament every fall called the Bytes for Kids Golf Tournament.
